Privacy Policy
Last updated April 7, 2026
HabitHerd is built to help you build habits with people you trust. We take the privacy of that data seriously. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. Plain English, no dark patterns.
The short version
- We never sell your personal data.
- We don't run ads.
- Apple Health data stays on your device unless you explicitly share a metric to your herd.
- You can export and delete your account and all of its data at any time, directly from the app.
What we collect
Account information
When you sign up we collect your name, email address, and a hashed password. If you sign in with Apple or Google we receive the basic profile fields those providers share. We use this to identify you, secure your account, and contact you about your account.
Habit and herd content
Habits, completions, streaks, focus sessions, herd membership, timeline posts, encouragements, and similar content you create in the app. This is the data the product is built around. It's visible to you, and visible to members of any herd you choose to share it with.
Apple Health data
If you grant HealthKit permission, the app reads metrics like steps, workouts, heart rate, and sleep so you can see them alongside your habits. This data is read on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly link a health metric to a habit you're sharing with a herd. You can revoke HealthKit permission at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health.
Diagnostics
We use Sentry to capture crash reports and performance issues so we can fix bugs. Crash reports include device model, OS version, and a stack trace, but no habit content or personal identifiers beyond a random user ID.
Device tokens
If you enable push notifications we store a device token so we can deliver reminders and herd activity alerts. You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings → Notifications → HabitHerd.
How we use your data
- To provide the core habit-tracking and herd features
- To deliver push notifications you've opted into (reminders, herd activity)
- To send transactional email about your account
- To diagnose crashes and improve reliability (via Sentry)
- To respond to your support requests
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or third-party marketing. We do not sell your data to anyone.
Who can see your data
You, always.
Members of your herd, for any data you share to a herd. This includes habits you've added to the herd, completion activity, streaks, levels, focus sessions, and timeline posts. Leaving a herd removes your ongoing activity from that herd's view.
HabitHerd staff, only when strictly necessary to operate the service or respond to a support request you've initiated. We do not browse user data.
Service providers who help us run the product: Sentry (crash reporting), our hosting provider, our email provider, and Apple Push Notification service. Each is bound by data-processing terms.
Your rights and choices
- Access & export. Request a copy of your data by emailing support@habitherd.com.
- Deletion. You can delete your account and all associated data from Settings → Account → Delete Account inside the app. Deletion is permanent and immediate.
- Revoke health access. iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → HabitHerd.
- Disable notifications. iOS Settings → Notifications → HabitHerd.
Data retention
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, all of your habits, herd memberships, timeline posts, and personal data are permanently deleted within 30 days. Anonymized aggregate metrics (e.g. total active users) may be retained.
Children
HabitHerd is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has given us their data, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes we'll update the date at the top of this page and notify active users by email or in-app message before the changes take effect.
